As my netbook slowly dies...
Aug. 3rd, 2012 09:45 amI've got some great stuff to write and some great stuff to respond to, and the *word processor* on my netbook isn't responding. I'll try rebooting again shortly, but I needed to get started writing *now* before my head exploded. And the browser is being slow and cumbersome, but it is at least working.
I *have* ordered a new machine; it might even arrive today. I'm not sure whether the three-year average life for a portable computer is planned or incidental obsolescence, but either way it's a nuisance. Venerable netbook made it to four; it doesn't owe me anything.
New plot-bunny is to write up an interview with the person at the desk of the local Republican party office. Then go actually *have* that interview, write it up again this time from real data, and contrast the two. It's a great idea, and I may actually do it, and soon, but it's not what I need to be writing *today*.
Neither is my response to
dichroic. who seems to me to be engaging in a bit of emotionally rewarding paranoia, but is still well enough within the bounds of consensus reality to have a good discussion on the matter. And she's capable of such discussion, and again, I could really use it -- but this is not today's project, either.
What I *should* be doing is finishing up Ch. 2 of the Convenience Store story, which takes us out of the store and down to the 22nd St. Landing, via Joe's apartment. And then continuing my studying of 'The Art of Community', by Jono Bacon.
So, if you're *reading* that story, stop here, for ( herein there be spoilers... )
